UHPS Room16 2011

In week 6 we had a really exciting surprise! Two police helicopters landed on our school field. Here are some recounts about the experience.

The Helicopter- By Stani

Frrrrr..Frrrrr.. "The helicopter is landing!" I shouted. Just as the flying sand flew in my face 4 men slipped down the rope they they were all dressed in black.
Josh shouting and stared at the helicopter. It was coming two times. At the first time I was thinking where will it land? and where did it come from.The helicopter was turning in the air. The black men were packing up the rope in the bag.

Yay! Today we had visitors at school- it was a helicopter.When it was over us it was loud and like a wind cyclone with it's propeller.
It landed with it's landers and black people out. Two minutes later the helicopter came back. "Oh no are they going to shoot us!" but they didn't,they just took the people away. It was awesome!-and it went over my house.

We have finished all of our poetry recitals and after a very hard decision we have decided that Kieran, Natasha and Prinisha will be going through to the finals next week. Well done to Jade and Ben who were in our top five!! Well done to everyone for a great effort with your oral language!! Can't wait to see how our finalists go next week- Good luck!

After visiting our bush backyard last week Room 16 decided to write some senses poems. We planned using a W chart included our five senses: touch, sight, sound, taste, smell. We hope you like our poems.

The Bush Walk

I saw little birds flying and rustling plants blooming

I heard leaves whispering and excitement in the air

I smelt fresh plants and smelly mushrooms

I tasted fresh air and the excitement

I felt soft plants and hard rocks.

The scary walk

I saw sharp, long silver ferns and squawking birds

I felt cold and smooth leaves and wrinkly tree bark

I heard tall talking trees and buzzing cicadas

I tasted fresh flower air

I smelt dog poo and fresh plants.

The amazing bush walk

I tasted the fresh air and water splashing up

I heard singing moreporks and chirping birds

I smelt fresh plants and amazing mushrooms

I felt leaves hitting me on the arm.

Mr Millett's latest boy Zero book has just been released! We were so excited when we discovered that he had dedicated this book to "Room 16"!!! We have been writing opinions about his books. The best opinion will be winning a "Zero G cupcake". Wow- Here are our opinions:

General Pandemonium is so funny. He talks for too long....beep! Heh, I have not stopped recording my message yet. Thanks for dedicating the book to us. By Jade P

It's so fantastic that it blowed my mind away when I was reading it . My favourite character is General Pandemonium. He's funny and also his new inventions are called, "Zero G cupcakes". I hope Charlie saves the world!! By Monique F

Because Charlie Applejack always saves the day. Like when he flyed up and caught the post. It was a very good story. When General Pandemonium tried to plummet the pants it was a very funny bit.
